Placemat – table runner

About a year ago I found 8 of these square placemats at a thrift store for $0.25!

Well since then I have come to the conclusion that you need the right table in order for square placemats to look right, and let me just say, I do not have such a table. But today as I looked at my bare and very colorless table, I decided to try and use them as a runner instead of individual placemats. So what do you think?

For all of you OCD people out there, let me comfort your souls as I tell you those wrinkles will soon be removed. It is currently 86 degrees in my house and the thought of turning on something to put more heat around me makes me able to live with the wrinkles.

I think its cute and its will be easy to rearrange since I didn’t sew them together, just simply laid them on top of each other.

So that’s it ladies, simple but adds the right amount of color to my bare table. Do you have any easy table setting ideas? Let me know and I would love to feature you!

5 Minute Craft Idea

For the last 4 months I have been obsessively buying every Scrabble game I find in thrift stores, I’m up to 5 games so I figured I should start using them. So here is my first Scrabble project and Yes you heard me right, it is a fabulous craft that will only take 5 minutes to make!Start with a blank frame you have lying around or one that is just begging for a makeover, most sizes will work. I used an 11×8 because I wanted a little more of the background color to show.

After you find the frame you want to use, simply frame coordinating photo, paper, or as I used – fabric. I used left over fabric I had from making my curtains.

I super glued my scrabble letters directly to the glass, but I’m sure you could use a frame without glass and glue it right to the background.

Once you finished gluing the letters onto the frame all you have left to do is hanging up! Like I said how much simpler can it get. It’s very simple but I think its adorable and adds the right amount of color to our little blank wall.

… so the more I sit here and look at my little creation, I think I’m going to add something to the white border… hmmm maybe I could Modge Podge some old dictionary pages to it. Any of you guys have some ideas for me?

The last 3 months

So as many of you have noticed I have been away from the blogging world for awhile, but I think I am about to jump back into it. I wanted to give you a little synopsis of what I’ve been up to for the last 3 months…

In May my hubby and I finally graduated from grad school, getting our Masters in Biblical Counseling. Although we walked we still had to complete our internship, and let me say… once you have walked and left the school premises… it is VERY hard to be motivated to do ANY school work! But thankfully with the Lords help and encouragement from and to each other, we are COMPLETELY DONE!!

After we finished with Grad school, we packed up all our things and moved across country to sunny California!!

We moved to help with a small church plant in Northern California. We loved our 3000 mile trip and it will probably be our last vacation for awhile. But boy did we have fun!

On the way out to California, we stopped in Las Vegas to watch the Phantom of the Opera! Let me just say, it was fabulous!! If any of you ever get the chance, don’t miss it!

We finally made it to our new rental house and we had our work cut out for us! The house had been closed up for over a year and we had some cleaning to do! But it is now clean, cozy and definitely spider free! Since this is only temporary housing (it is a month to month situation) its been hard to make it mine, but I have started on a few projects that I can’t wait to show you all. Here are a few sneak peaks!

This beauty needs some major TLC! I have already started ripping the old fabric off. I will post more pictures and the progress continues.

And last but not least, can anyone guess what I used these for? I have to say they are super cheap! only $3 for a twin size flat sheet. I will post my finished projects shortly!

Hey everyone, I’m sorry I disappeared off the blogging world but I’m back! My hubby and I graduated with our Master’s and moved across country…hench the lack of crafting and blogging! Well today I unpacked my spray paint and modge podge, so the crafts should be rolling out soon.

Teacher Gifts

In celebration of my Grad degree almost being done (2 projects and 9 days left), I thought I would post some pictures of some fun and easy teacher appreciation gifts.

I love this pencil vase found at 2 Clever Blog. I don’t know a teacher that wouldn’t love to have this sitting on their desk!

I love this monogram made from crayons. I found this one over at Dollar Store Crafts so you know its going to be a cheap and easy project.

I found these two ideas at Secrets of a Super Mommy. Both of them sound absolutely wonderful to me. A spa basket full of lotions,candles, bath salts. Every great teacher out there can appreciate a little relaxing. If that is not their way of relaxing, try the movie package. Popcorn, $1 for a Redbox rental, movie candy and soda.

My new addiction

So I stumbled upon this new website the other day and Im officially hooked. Shade Tree Films makes videos for special occasions, and WOW do they do a great job!! The editing is fabulous. All the angles, music, the story…all I can say is the best work I have ever seen. Check out their wedding stories, I’m sure you will love them!

Baby Shower gift

Well I just received an invitation for a baby shower being thrown by some church ladies for our assistants pastors wife. I absolutely love baby showers as we all oohh and awww over all the cute little outfits. I also love the fellowship that comes along with it. I love being able to forget about school work for awhile and just talk with some ladies. The only problem is the hubby and I are trying to save as much money as we can to move to California in June/July, so the budget is pretty small. During my explorations of blogging world I have come across some super cute baby shower gifts that I am going to attempt. But instead of spending $20 – $50…I’m going to attempt to do it with $5-$8. I am headed out to town tonight, so we will see what I come up with! I will post the final gift sometime next week with a breakdown of what the cost was.

Here are a few of my inspiration ideas.
